Good morning everyone. And yes, it is a good morning. I woke up at 4:15 and didn't feel as if I wanted to rip my alarm clock off the desk and stomp it into a million little pieces. It is now day 22 of a 32 day trip to wonderful Seattle, WA, and I miss my kids more than ever. I miss my wife too, but at least she understands why I have to be gone. Try explaining that to a 5 and 3 year old. They know I travel for work, but I always hear, "I really wish you could come home tomorrow." whenever I call. It's good to know they love me though. =)
For starters, I have one older son (22) who doesn't have much to do with me, and I have 2 young kids ages 5 and 3. I'll refer to them as E and Z for now. E is my 5 year old and Z is my 3 year old. This blog will likely be about them for the most part.
What's funny with my kids, and I assume with all kids, is that the only time they REALLY want to talk to me is right before bed. In the morning, they are just waking up and not ready to talk yet. In the afternoon, they are too busy with playing, watching TV, or any one of a myriad of other activities to be bothered with talking to me. I understand that and am really glad that at least they're not bored. But I gotta say, I love talking to them when I'm on the road.
Another funny thing is when they want to Skype with me. I don't fool myself into thinking they actually want to talk to me. They just love seeing themselves on the computer dancing or making faces. The fact that they get to talk to and see me is just a side bonus. This is ok as I love to watch them dance and make faces. =)
It amazes me how they seem to grow and mature on a daily basis. It seems like only yesterday they were barely able to talk, and now they're carrying on full conversations with me. Sometimes I have to remind myself that they're only 5 and 3. They both wanted to come to Seattle with me this time as they did back in November. I wish I could have brought them, but we just came back from vacation a few weeks ago and money is tight.
Anyway, I'll close this, my first entry for now with the hope that I will be much more active on this blog than I was on the last one I had about 6 years ago. Of course, if I blog more than once a month, it could be considered more active. =/
Thanks for reading and I hope to post more soon.
