Ok, this morning I woke up at 3:45am not being able to get back to sleep. As I lay there, I was contemplating the consequences of my options. Specifically I could get up, dink around on the computer for a bit, hope I get tired again and go back to bed, or I could just lay there and hope that sleep found it's way back to me. I chose to get up. This was my error. I should have just laid there and waited, but no, I got up. Now this in itself is not that bad of a decision. After all, I HAD planned on going back to sleep. But alas, Facebook and Minecraft had other plans.
So, now I sit here at 10:38 am feeling like it's 10:38 PM and I should be going back to bed.
Z woke up at about 6:30 and walked into my room. If you know my house, he has to pass by the living room to get to our room. As he passes the living room, he looks in and sees me sitting there. He waves and walks on into my bedroom. About 15 minutes later, I get up and go lay down in bed and he's laying there looking out the window. He whispers, "It's morning!" I told him I knew, but I was still very tired. He said I shouldn't be laying in bed because it was morning and that I should get up. Well, we kept this up for a few minutes before he finally realized I wasn't going anywhere. So then he decides to pounce on my stomach and make absolutely SURE that I couldn't even think about going back to sleep. God love him... =)
Since E was staying at her Aunt's house for a few days, it gave Z and I some good, quality time together. But I do miss her and will be anxious to see her this evening.

Funny things kids say...
Heya everyone!
My wife related a story to me this morning of something Z said. He was looking at a cloud and made the comment that the one he was seeing looked like a wolf. She looked up and agreed. Then she asked him how he saw that, and he said, "With my Superman eyes!"
Of course! How could we NOT have known that??? hehe...
I remember one time I was taking him to Karate class and he was telling me how to get there. I knew, but I was seeing if he did. At one point, he told me to take a turn that I knew to be wrong. So I said, "How about we go this way instead?" We did and a few minutes later saw his dojo. He said, "Good choice dad!"
It amazes me (as they often do) the things that my kids say. Z tends to say more imaginative and off the wall things as E tends more towards facts and knowledge. What's rather interesting is my wife is an artist and I am a network engineer. My daughter has always favored me and my son favors my wife in looks. Therefore it should be only natural that they also favor us in their likes and dislikes. My daughter plays video games, and my son doesn't show much interest. I just find it really interesting.
Anyway, I'm going to sign off for now. Just wanted to document this while I was thinking about it.

In the beginning...
Good morning everyone. And yes, it is a good morning. I woke up at 4:15 and didn't feel as if I wanted to rip my alarm clock off the desk and stomp it into a million little pieces. It is now day 22 of a 32 day trip to wonderful Seattle, WA, and I miss my kids more than ever. I miss my wife too, but at least she understands why I have to be gone. Try explaining that to a 5 and 3 year old. They know I travel for work, but I always hear, "I really wish you could come home tomorrow." whenever I call. It's good to know they love me though. =)
For starters, I have one older son (22) who doesn't have much to do with me, and I have 2 young kids ages 5 and 3. I'll refer to them as E and Z for now. E is my 5 year old and Z is my 3 year old. This blog will likely be about them for the most part.
What's funny with my kids, and I assume with all kids, is that the only time they REALLY want to talk to me is right before bed. In the morning, they are just waking up and not ready to talk yet. In the afternoon, they are too busy with playing, watching TV, or any one of a myriad of other activities to be bothered with talking to me. I understand that and am really glad that at least they're not bored. But I gotta say, I love talking to them when I'm on the road.
Another funny thing is when they want to Skype with me. I don't fool myself into thinking they actually want to talk to me. They just love seeing themselves on the computer dancing or making faces. The fact that they get to talk to and see me is just a side bonus. This is ok as I love to watch them dance and make faces. =)
It amazes me how they seem to grow and mature on a daily basis. It seems like only yesterday they were barely able to talk, and now they're carrying on full conversations with me. Sometimes I have to remind myself that they're only 5 and 3. They both wanted to come to Seattle with me this time as they did back in November. I wish I could have brought them, but we just came back from vacation a few weeks ago and money is tight.
Anyway, I'll close this, my first entry for now with the hope that I will be much more active on this blog than I was on the last one I had about 6 years ago. Of course, if I blog more than once a month, it could be considered more active. =/
Thanks for reading and I hope to post more soon.
